You are cordially invited to the first public performance by the recently formed music, sound, and performance initiative, “the helper ensemble;” aboard a massive old steel barge, “Belly of Leonardo” will take place on the eve of Sunday, June 28.
Founded by Leander Knust, Lieke Dijkstra, Benton Ching, and Max Stiemel, helper ensemble is a multi-media sound and performance project with a shifting flux of members and participants. The project notably features Leander’s home built helper Yaybahar, vocals, flute and more by Lieke, and synthesizer, guitar, and more by Benton. For the Belly of Leonardo, dancers and hosts will join the fray.
The format of the event will consist of two acts separated by a lengthy intermission:
Doors: 19:30
Act 1: ~20:00 to ~20:45, Leander, Lieke, and Benton will play while Det, Simone, Judy, and Julia dance and facilitate broader movement.
Intermission: ~20:45 to ~21:30, cocktails and more by Paco and Yasmine on the roof of the vessel. Rum sponsored by the Leonardo’s owner, Huib Koel, and his sail powered venture, Kaap Koffie.
