Customs officials rely on these electronic documents to identify and prevent the entry of prohibited goods from nations that engage in human rights abuses, support terrorism, or threaten international security.

Understanding of CHARTERER PARTY, SPEED and FUEL CONSUMPTIONS:

Under a time charter contract between the Charterer and the Ship Owner, the Ship Owner “warrants” that his vessel will perform within the parameters specified under the description clause. Failure to perform as per the speed and fuel consumption specified may cause “breach of contract” and result in a claim for damages by the Charterer.

Most of the ship owner stating that
vessel is capable of maintaining from beginning sea passage to end of sea passage on both Laden and ballast passages, with agreed average speed/consumption during weather days up to Beaufort 4 and Douglas sea state 3 with combined wave and swell heights NTE (not to exceed) 1.25 m without adverse currents, being on even keel and excluding periods during which reduction of speed for safety, congestion or reduced visibility etc,.

Speed claim means that speed of a vessel should perform at the prescribed speed with prevailing Beaufort 4 and Douglas sea state 3.If the vessel is not performing at this speed, then the charterer may make a speed claim

Overconsumption means that the vessel is using more fuel per day than specified in the charter-party.

Charterer party appointed weather routing company to determine the prevailing weather conditions enroute and suitably guide the vessel to take the shortest route, also study the effect of the weather on the vessel speed and thus as an independent party, have an important say in the vessel performance. Especially so if the contract stipulates that in the event of a dispute, the opinion of a routing company would be sought.

To avoid speed claim and overconsumption claim, It is advisable that vessel should monitor and perform as per charter party speed and consumption at agreed weather, sea state, swell, wind speed , wave height and current condition in daily basis.
