Abuja, Nigeria — April 29, 2026
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Nigeria (CILT Nigeria) today successfully hosted its Aviation Mode Workshop in Abuja, bringing together key stakeholders across the aviation and logistics sectors to deliberate on industry transformation and innovation.
The event, themed “Strategic Leadership and Innovation in Nigeria’s Aviation Sector: The Role of Technology in Enhancing Logistics Efficiency,” took place at the Pilgrims Terminal Gate of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and attracted prominent industry leaders, policymakers, and professionals.
The President and Chairman of Council of CILT Nigeria, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, was in attendance, where he delivered a keynote goodwill address. In his remarks, he described the workshop as “a defining conversation” rather than just another industry gathering, emphasizing the urgency of innovation and strategic leadership in repositioning Nigeria’s aviation sector.
He commended the Aviation Mode of CILT Nigeria for spearheading the initiative and specifically praised the Chief Organiser, Rosemary O. Audu, for her professionalism and commitment in delivering a high-impact platform for dialogue.
The President also acknowledged the Chief Host, Ahmadu Danjuma, for providing the venue and supporting professional development within the sector.
In his address, Dr. Oyeyemi highlighted persistent challenges in Nigeria’s aviation industry, including infrastructure gaps, operational inefficiencies, and limited adoption of modern technologies. He stressed that while infrastructure is critical, visionary and ethical leadership remains the most decisive factor for sustainable growth.
He further noted that global aviation logistics is rapidly evolving through technologies such as artificial intelligence, automation, blockchain, and real-time tracking systems, urging Nigerian stakeholders to align strategically to adopt these innovations.
Also in attendance were the Chairman of the CILT Nigeria Abuja Branch, Emmanuel Onwodi, and the Immediate Past Chairman, Mr. Alex Okosun. Both delivered goodwill messages, encouraging members to actively expand the institute’s membership base and strengthen professional participation within the sector.
The workshop featured expert discussions centered on improving logistics efficiency, enhancing regulatory frameworks, and integrating aviation into a broader multimodal transport system.
Declaring the workshop officially open, the CILT President called on participants to think boldly and act decisively, urging each attendee to leave with actionable ideas that would contribute to transforming Nigeria’s aviation industry.
The event reaffirmed CILT Nigeria’s commitment to building a globally competitive and technologically advanced transport and logistics ecosystem, with aviation playing a pivotal role.
“Together, we will build a sector that not only moves people and cargo—but moves the nation forward,” Dr. Oyeyemi concluded.
