Key Things to Look Into Before Planting Oil Palm or Coconut:

Many farmers in Nigeria make a costly mistake that destroys their dreams. If you have 10 or 20 plots in a residential area and are excited to start an oil palm plantation, pause and reconsider. If development is likely to reach your land within the next 10-20 years, it's best not to plant oil palm there. You'll regret it.

Oil palm is a long-term investment that takes time to mature. The first 5-10 years are spent recovering costs, and real profits start from year 10 to year 40. But what if community issues arise just when your trees are yielding maximum profits?

Community Challenges

They might claim:
* "We need a road through your plantation."
* "This land is our ancestral land."
* "We want to divide it."
* "Your plantation is hiding criminals."
* "Dangerous animals are a disturbance."
