I thought buying the right equipment would finally make me start creating content... but I was wrong.
Almost a year ago, I withdrew all my life savings to buy these.
A ring light. A tripod. A new phone. Microphones. Pocket Wi-Fi. Earbuds. Everything I believed I needed to finally begin my content creation journey.
For the longest time, I kept telling myself: "I haven't started because I don't have the right tools." "Once I buy everything, I'll be posting content back to back."
I believed my only problem was not having the equipment.
So I sacrificed my savings and bought them all.
But here's the painful part...
It's been almost one year, and most of these are still in their boxes.
Every single day, I see them sitting there, reminding me of the promises I made to myself.
Sometimes I'm motivated to create, but there's no electricity.
Other times there's electricity, but after a long, stressful 9–5 job, I get home completely exhausted. The last thing my body wants to do is set up lights and record videos.
Slowly, the excuses changed.
It was no longer "I don't have the equipment."
Now it's: "I'm too tired." "Maybe tomorrow." "I'll start next week."
And before I knew it... Almost a whole year had passed.
This experience has taught me something painful:
Sometimes, the things we think are stopping us aren't the real problem.
Maybe I wasn't as ready as I thought. Or maybe my job is so demanding, I honestly don't know.
But then i realised dreams don't die overnight. They slowly fade every time we tell ourselves, "I'll start tomorrow.
If you're reading this and you've been waiting for the "perfect time" to start something, this is your sign.
Maybe it's not the camera. Maybe it's not the laptop. Maybe it's not the money.
Maybe we just need to start, even if it's messy, imperfect, and uncomfortable.
