STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIP FOR CARGO DEVELOPMENT

On the 24th August 2026, the Ondo State commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Hon engr. Olaleye Akinola met with the Akure Airport Management team to discuss collaboration on the proposed cargo terminal and agricultureral export initiative for Ondo State.

TEST RUN BEGINS AT AKURE AIRPORT

The test running of the newly upgraded Akure Airport commence today, 17 August 2026, with passengers boarding Overland Airways flight to Abuja
The airport came alive as passengers filled the departure hall, while all airport workers took their respective positions to ensure a smooth and seamless operation.
The airport Manager Mrs Adebiyi Yemisi Abosede and some management team moved around the terminal to ensure that everything was in place.

Akure Airport is looking beautiful, vibrant and fully ready to serve you better.

STAKEHOLDERS MEETING AHEAD OF NEW TERMINAL TEST RUN

The Management of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Akure Airport 13 August 2026, held a meeting with the management representative of Air Peace, NACHO, Overland Airways, Green African Airways to discuss preparation for the test running of the new terminal.
The test run is scheduled to commence on Monday, 17 August 2026, as part of efforts to ensure a smooth and seamless transition ahead of the terminal's commissioning.

The Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA) paid a return visit to the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu Airport,Akure,to further strengthen and formalize the collaboration between both organizations.
During the visit,the Airport Manager and the Chief Executive officer of ONDIPA held a productive discussion on strategies for attracting investments to the airport and Ondo State.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from both teams to work together in promoting economic growth and facilitating investment opportunities through the airport.

Gifts were presented to the retirees, award were given to best performng staff, and the Airport Manager was also honored with an award in recognition of good leadership and support
