When you look at the entire area around Khongorin Els, you can see rocky mountains in front, sand dunes in the middle where no plants can grow, and a green oasis with a river flowing along the northern slopes. The floodwaters that descend from the Zeolung ridge make their way through the Khongorin Els, seep into the soil, and form streams called Seruun Bulag and Arganga Bulag at the northern edge of the els, emerging again on the ground, and flowing westward along the edge of the els for more than 10 kilometers, which is called the Khongorin River.🇲🇳
