Welcome to Marrakech during Eid Al Adha π π
Eid Al Adha is the biggest religious holiday in the Muslim world, similar in importance to Christmas for Christians. It is a special time centered around family gatherings, sharing, and sacrifice (Thanksgiving spirit).
Just a small friendly note for travelers visiting during the first day of Eid:
The city may feel much quieter than usual, and places like Jemaa el-Fnaa can sometimes be almost empty during the day. Most local people spend this special occasion with their families, and many residents also travel outside the city for the holiday.
What to expect:
β’ Many shops, cafΓ©s, pharmacies, and local restaurants may be closed on the first day.
β’ Taxis and transport services can be limited.
β’ Streets and neighborhoods may have barbecue smoke and cooking smells from the traditional Eid celebrations β this is a normal part of the local atmosphere.
Useful tips:
β’ Prepare your essentials and cash before Eid day.
β’ Arrange airport transfers and activities in advance when possible.
β’ Keep some patience and enjoy the slower local rhythm of the city during this unique celebration.
β’ The atmosphere gradually returns to normal from the second day onward.
Although the city is quieter, itβs also one of the most authentic moments to discover the real local culture and family spirit of Morocco.
