🚛 Drivers, planning to work in Lithuania?

If you're considering working and applying for a residence permit in Lithuania, one of the key requirements is a certificate of no criminal record.

📄 You will need to provide:
✔️ A certificate from your country of permanent residence
✔️ A certificate from any country where you have stayed for more than 6 months in the last 2 years

⚠️ Important:
All documents must be officially issued and apostilled to be legally valid in Lithuania.

⏳ Keep in mind:
Obtaining these certificates can take time, especially if you’ve lived in multiple countries. Start the process early to avoid delays with your employment and residence permit.

Do non-EU truck drivers need to exchange their licenses in Lithuania?

This is a common question among drivers coming from countries like Brazil, the Philippines, and others outside the EU.

Here’s the reality:

If you hold a non-EU driving license, you can only use it in Lithuania for a limited time after arrival. Once you become a resident (living and working in Lithuania), exchanging your license becomes mandatory.

For professional drivers (categories C, CE), the requirements are stricter:
✔️ In most cases, you must pass both theory and practical exams
✔️ Additional qualifications (such as Code 95) may be required
✔️ Your original license will no longer be valid after the deadline

Unlike EU licenses, which can often be used without exchange, non-EU licenses usually do NOT qualify for a simple swap.

📌 Key takeaway:
If you're planning to work as a truck driver in Lithuania and you're from a non-EU country — be prepared for a full licensing process, not just paperwork.
