📌 Announcement: Sacred Journey Continuing the Walk for Peace (April–May 2026)

Dear friends and cherished supporters,

As we continue advancing the spirit of peace together, we are grateful to share news of a deeply meaningful pilgrimage that extends the heart of the Walk for Peace in a sacred and inspiring way.

From April 14–29, 2026, Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara, his respected teacher Venerable Ratanaguṇa, and ten additional monks from the Walk for Peace—twelve venerables altogether—will travel from Fort Worth, Texas to Sri Lanka to undertake a sacred mission.

Purpose of the Journey

This pilgrimage is devoted to respectfully requesting the Sacred Buddha Relics and a Bodhi Tree sapling to be brought to Hương Đạo Vipassana Bhavana Center. These revered symbols embody the same values that guided our 2,300-mile Walk for Peace across America: mindfulness, loving-kindness, compassion, unity, and peace.

During their time in Sri Lanka, the monastic delegation will also participate in a four-day Walk for Peace, continuing the message of harmony and collective goodwill that united communities across ten states during our journey in the United States.

Vesak Celebration & Sacred Exposition

Upon returning to Fort Worth, these sacred items will be ceremonially welcomed during the Vesak Celebration at Hương Đạo Vipassana Bhavana Center, taking place May 2–10, 2026. This gathering will offer our community a rare and precious opportunity to come together for the sacred exposition of the Buddha Relics and to share in collective reflection and devotion.

The Sacred Buddha Relics—recognized as a treasured national heritage of Sri Lanka—will be respectfully displayed at the temple during Vesak and then reverently returned to Sri Lanka afterward.

The Bodhi Tree sapling comes from the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, an authenticated living descendant of the original Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, India, under which the Buddha attained enlightenment more than 2,500 years ago. This sacred sapling will be carefully planted on temple grounds, where it will remain as a living symbol of awakening, peace, and mindfulness for generations to come.

Just as the Walk for Peace across America was made possible through the generosity and goodwill of many compassionate individuals, we now gently invite our community to consider supporting this sacred undertaking.

We are sincerely thankful to MGM Global Support for offering assistance with airline miles. However, because of the complexity of international travel and multiple flight transfers, we hope to secure coordinated round-trip tickets on the same flights so the monastic delegation may travel safely and together as one unified presence.

We would be deeply grateful for any contribution toward covering the round-trip airfare expenses. Every offering—large or small—is a meaningful gesture that supports the continuation of peace across continents and helps bring something profoundly sacred to our community.

A New Chapter of Peace Is Quietly Unfolding 🌿🕊️🐾

After carrying compassion across America, Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara prepares for his next sacred step: returning to Sri Lanka to receive a blessed Bodhi sapling from the revered Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi—one of the oldest living trees in the world, grown from the original Bodhi Tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment.

This sacred sapling will journey to the United States—not merely to be planted in soil, but to be planted in human hearts.

For Americans, this is more than a ceremonial moment. It is a rare spiritual opportunity:

To sit near a Bodhi sapling is to sit with stillness.

To breathe beside it is to feel the nervous system soften.

To offer respect is to reconnect with inner calm.
