இந்த வெளிச்சவீடு உயரமான உருளை வடிவ கோபுரமாக அமைந்துள்ளது.

இரவு நேரங்களில் பல கிலோமீட்டர் தூரத்திலிருந்தே இதன் ஒளி கடலில் பயணிக்கும் கப்பல்களுக்கு தெளிவாகத் தெரியும்.
The lighthouse is a tall cylindrical tower with a powerful light installed at the top.
At night, its beam can be seen from several kilometres away, guiding ships navigating these waters.

உள்நாட்டுப் போர் காலத்தில் இந்த வெளிச்சவீடு சேதமடைந்து சில காலம் செயலற்ற நிலையில் இருந்தது.
போர் முடிந்த பின் இது மீளமைக்கப்பட்டு மீண்டும் செயல்படத் தொடங்கியது.
இன்றைக்கு இது ஒரு வரலாற்று நினைவுச் சின்னமாகவும், சுற்றுலா ஈர்ப்பு மையமாகவும் விளங்குகிறது.
During the civil war, the lighthouse was damaged and remained inactive for some time.
After the war, it was restored and brought back into operation.
Today, it stands as a historical monument and an attractive tourist landmark.
