Sancharaka Udawa 2025: A Landmark Moment for Sri Lanka’s Tourism Revival

The 12th edition of Sancharaka Udawa, Sri Lanka’s flagship travel and tourism exhibition, concluded on a high note at the BMICH, marking a significant milestone for the country’s tourism industry.

The event was officially inaugurated by His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake—the first sitting President to attend Sancharaka Udawa, reflecting renewed national commitment to strengthening the tourism sector. His presence, alongside Minister of Tourism Hon. Vidura Wickramanayake Herath and Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism, Mr. Buddika Hewawasam, offered a strong endorsement of the industry’s importance to national economic recovery.

Organised by the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO), in partnership with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and executed by CDC Events and Aitken Spence Conventions & Exhibitions, this year’s edition drew over 250 exhibitors and over 8000 visitors, filling every stall at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre.

SLAITO President Nalin Jayasundera highlighted the significance of the event, stating, “Sancharaka Udawa has evolved into a vital platform that unites the tourism community of Sri Lanka. It not only promotes sustainable and inclusive growth but also empowers small and medium enterprises to connect with the mainstream industry and expand their market reach.” SLAITO President Nalin Jayasundera also emphasized the need to fast-track Sri Lanka’s global tourism marketing campaign which would help tourism become the countries number one export earner.

The event served as a vital platform for inbound tour operators, hoteliers, adventure service providers, transport companies, SMEs, and community tourism projects to connect, collaborate, and showcase their offerings. The exhibition also featured the MICE Tourism Conclave 2025 and strong participation from academic institutions, further integrating education, innovation, and business.

Charith De Alwis, General Secretary of SLAITO and Chairman of the Organising Committee, led the planning and ex*****on of this landmark edition.

SLAITO extends its sincere appreciation to His Excellency the President, the Hon. Minister of Tourism, and the Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism for their support, which has greatly strengthened confidence in the future of the industry.

Sancharaka Udawa 2025 stands as a symbol of resilience, partnership, and renewed momentum—positioning Sri Lanka once more as a world-class destination.
