Engineers at Kenya Shipyards Limited – Kisumu Shipyard are currently installing the propeller shaft on MV Chamaunga, marking another important milestone in the vessel’s propulsion system and overall mechanical completion. This delicate operation requires high technical precision, careful alignment, and strict adherence to marine engineering standards to ensure optimal performance and long-term reliability.

The propeller shaft is a vital component of any ferry, transmitting rotational power from the engine to the propeller to generate thrust that moves the vessel through water. Proper installation is essential not only for efficient propulsion, but also for minimizing vibration, reducing wear on connected systems, and enhancing overall operational safety.

The ongoing works reflect the expertise and commitment of KSL engineers in delivering quality shipbuilding solutions. Each step brings MV Chamaunga closer to completion, reinforcing Kenya Shipyards Limited’s role in strengthening local capacity for vessel construction, maintenance, and marine engineering excellence.
