僕は子供の頃から鉄道が好きだった。なぜ好きなんだろう・・・
ここ数年、ずっと考えていた。
カッコよく疾走するブルートレインや特急、急行列車達、
しかし、よくよく考えてみたり感じてみたりすると、
そこで働いている大人たちの姿が大好きだった、惚れていた、
という事が分かってきた。
運転士さん、車掌さん、駅員さん、
車庫で整備する人、入れ替えをする旗振りの人、保線に関わる人等々、
そんな鉄道に関わる方々の鉄道に対する誇り、
使命感、責任感、そして自信に溢れた姿に
感動、共感し惚れていたのだ。
いかに安全に時間通りに何があっても走らせる、
そんな想いに感動していた、素直にカッコいいと。
作られる車両たちにも作られた想いと人間同様生き様があり、
路線にも想いがあり、そこを走る列車にも想いや目的、使
命があり、
時代と共に使命を終え消え去っていく歴史にも心打たれた。
一つの列車には、何十人、何百人という人の想いを乗せ、
同じ目的地に向かって一心不乱に走っている。
乗っている人の人生を乗せて走っている。
そういう列車を時間通りに気持ちよく走らせるために関わる人々、
そこにドラマと存在感を感じる。
しかし、今の鉄道は苦しんでいるようにも見える。
人身事故、駅係員への暴力、ホームでのトラブル、線路内立ち入り・・・
いつから鉄道は人の夢や命を奪ってしまう存在になってしまったのか。
これが鉄道技術の発達した未来の姿なのか・・・？
僕は悔しくて仕方がありません。
一体いつからこんな存在になってしまったのか。
僕は鉄道が大好きです。
だから毎日乗る鉄道、
乗る機会がなくても地元を走る鉄道、
生活の一部となり利用されている鉄道を、
もう一度、心底、愛され夢を与える存在にしたい。
もう二度と乗りたくない、
ではなく、
明日も乗りたい、
もう乗りたくて仕方が無い、我慢できない、今から駅行って待ってようか・・・
そういう存在にしたい。
そして、乗ることにより、
乗る人の人生を更に素晴らしいものにしたい。
列車から夢と感動を広げていきたい。
もう一つ、鉄道を好きになった理由があります。
それは、とある鉄道雑誌に載っていた投稿記事のことです。
その記事とは、第2次世界大戦終戦後、
戦地から命からがら引き揚げて来られた方の記事です。
投稿された方は、終戦後、戦地から引き揚げ船に乗り
命からがらやっと日本の大地を踏みしめる事が出来たそうです。
しかし、日本にやっと帰ってきてみて見たものは・・・
一面の焼け野原。
この光景を目の当たりしたこの方は、
「あぁ、日本はこんな姿になってしまった、
もう日本はダメかもしれない。これからどうなってしまうのだろう・・・」
と焦燥感と悲壮感にかられ絶望されたそうです。
そして、とりあえず故郷に向かう為に駅に向かうと・・・
なんと、列車だけは時間通りにきっちり動いていた、走っていた。
たとえ戦争に負けようが周りが焼け野原だろうが
何だろうが列車は時間通りに正確に走っていた。
この鉄道を見てこの方は思ったそうです。
「日本はまだ捨てたもんじゃない、まだまだいける！」と。
戦争に負けようが焼け野原だろうが自分の使命を全うするために動いていた列車達。
当時の鉄道に関わる方々は、鉄道を時間通りに走らせる、という姿でもって
戦争でうちひしがられていた人々に自然と勇気と夢を与える存在になっていたのです。
このことは、後で父に聞いてみても
同じ答えが帰ってきました。
出兵直前に終戦を、横須賀の海軍基地で迎えた父。
武装解除後、実家へ戻るために使った横須賀線。
その横須賀線が時間通り走る姿を見て、同じように
「日本はまだまだいける！」と感じたそうです。
これは、鉄道に関わる方々の愛と誇りと勇気の結晶だと僕は思います。
そして僕も思いました。
環境が周囲がどうなっていようとも、
常に自分のやる事に誇りと使命と責任感を持ち
そして自信を持って生きる姿を見せたい。
そして、人々に夢と勇気を与えていきたい。
だから、今、いつも乗ったり見かけたりする通勤列車が、
人々に夢と勇気を与えてもいいんじゃないか？
グリーン車、女性専用車両があるのなら、夢を語る専用車両があってもいいんじゃないか？
今、僕に出来ること、いつも走っている通勤列車から変えていく。
日常使っているものから変えていく。
毎日、通勤列車に乗る人に、
夢と勇気と愛と感動を与えながら、そして感じながら走る
伝説の通勤列車があってもいいじゃないか。
きっと、与えていくことが出来るはずです。
それが今出来る、
僕に夢と勇気を与えてくれた鉄道や鉄道に関わる方々への恩返しです。
だから絶対にあきらめない、
通勤列車の常識を覆し、
新しい時代を迎えるまでは。
先人、先輩方の想いを無駄にしたくない、
ここまで築いてきたものを生かし更にステージを上げるんだ。
次のステージに行きたい、だから絶対にあきらめない。
こんな想いからこのドリームライナー号も成り立っています。
僕は就職してから約10年間、往復約3時間の超満員の通勤電車のお世話になりました。
あれは体験した事のある方だけが実感できる辛さかもしれません。
そして、会社に行くのが嫌になりました。
会社に行く前に超満員の通勤電車で疲れてしまうからです。
電車はすぐ止まるし遅れるし、
混雑によるストレス、イライラ、ムカムカ。
行き場の無い怒り。
気分が悪くなってうずくまる人・・・
僕の神経は当時、朝からはちきれんばかりでした。
先日もホームに向かう通路で相手の肘が僕の肋骨にぶつかり、
肋骨が折れそうになったことがありました。
こんな状態で会社に行っても気分よく仕事が出来る訳がありません。
そんな中、路線によっては座席指定の料金を支払えば
着席して通勤できるホームライナーがあるのを知りました。
発射時間が決まっているので、同じ列車に乗り合わせる人も多いはず。
毎朝同じ列車で座って同じ顔ぶれで目的地まで行けるのなら、車中で自己紹介をして、
夢のかなうワークやセミナーを受けながら目的地まで行ったらどうだろう・・・
目的地に着くと夢のかなう自分になっていた。
目的地のホームに降り立った時にはすでにモチベーションは最高の状態になっており、
この状態のまま皆、会社に向かい仕事を始められたら・・・
どんなに仕事が楽しくなるか・・・
イライラ・ストレスとも無縁になり、
たとえ列車から会社に行く途中で嫌なことがあっても
自ら率先して「ごめんなさい」という言葉が出てきたり・・・
毎朝やる気になった人たちが会社で仕事をするようになったら
日本の国力のアップにもつながるのではなかろうか・・・
これからの通勤列車は、ただお客様を運ぶだけでなくお客様も運ばれるだけでなく、
お客様の夢をかなえながら運ぶのが普通になる時代が来たのです。
夢をかなえながら走る列車、それがドリームライナー号シリーズです。
ドリームライナー号に乗る人、
乗れなくても好きな人達のことを、
ドリームライナーズ、
世界を変える人のことを言う。
