Walked around in Nagano just before sunset and found this statue of a Kabuto beetle lifting a little beetle. It surely has a deeper meaning than "big beetle, lifts little beetle", but I'm a little shallow and I was hungry so B.B.L.L.B it is.

In order to get better insight in the world of pottery, we traveled to Seto city. We unleashed our inner (as opposed to outer creativity) creativity! Inspired by pancakes, roadkill and flat world believers, we created these amazing dishes . It'll take a month to bake them, but the finished product will certainly send shockwaves through the world of pottery and ceramics..
1-they are easier to stack
2-they are easier to wash
Ok3-you're not confined to round shapes
4-eating meat balls will be so much more fun
5-food looks more delicious, so less effort in the kitchen.
6-soup is easier too, just open a can of Campbell soup and pour it on the plate in solid form...a deeper more concentrated taste will hit your taste buds.

We spent a whole day exploring magical Tokoname — and honestly, it completely stole our hearts and not our wallets whoo hoo!
This is definitely becoming part of a new tour. From the warm local people to the beautiful nature, incredible pottery and ceramics, hidden art spots, and amazing food (with plenty of vegetarian options too), Tokoname has everything. We met a local artists and he created small calligraphy post cards based on our names, birthday and... handshake..awesome!
One of the most picturesque and awesome places we’ve visited in Japan, and somehow it still feels like a hidden gem

A 5 day tour in Nagasaki and Fukuoka with 150 high school students! It sounds hard, but it's actually great fun. There were some complaints about noise, too much talking and bad jokes...but that's who I am. The kids however were absolutely perfect, respectful, quiet, and punctual.

Touring two weeks with a lovely group, today: Takayama, kaiseki dinner at the lovely ryokan (japanese inn) we're staying. Sake was drunk, Hida beef was eaten and futons were laid out.

Today I guided two lovely people from the US. One of them is wheelchair bound, but that didn’t stop them from following their dream of visiting Japan.
With a little help we were still able to visit some beautiful places and had a really great day.
For me, people are just people. I never treat anyone differently — it doesn’t matter where you’re from, your age, ability, religion, or anything else. We'll adapt to you and create an unforgettable day(s)

I took two lovely/lively customers to the mecca of Japanese pottery and ceramics, Seto city and Mino city. We visited a 250 year old kiln where we were warmly welcomed by the owner who gave us a demonstration as well. Then we had lunch at a "locals only" shop...3000 yen for three delicious meals! Some other places were visited and finally we moved to the Mino ceramic park where we were welcomed by my friend and ceramic professional Ayako.
Cups were seen, bowls were bought, tiny roads were navigated, much was spoken.

Omg, I am getting old, I'm taking pictures of flowers and flower buds.... Soon the plum trees will be in full bloom and when that happens I'll be running around sniffing flowers, writing haiku (with help of chat gpt), and sipping nihonshu (sake)....

Up the ropeway to Gozaisho mountain, absolutely gorgeous and the coldest I ever felt in my life.
Only 50 minutes away from Nagoya by car and you're in another world...a frozen one.
