Renee Hannes is a slow travel expert and the founder of Dream Plan Experience, a website that helps travellers explore Europe at a slower, more meaningful pace. She has spent nearly four decades travelling throughout Europe, returning again and again to France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain to experience them more deeply over time. L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, nicknamed the Venice of Provence and famous for being the heart of the region's antiques, boasts the second-largest market in France, after Paris’s famed Marché aux Puces.

2. Passage Reilhac is a private passage opened in 1879 and named after one of its former owners
3. Passage de l’Ancre goes back to the 17th century; its name came from an old inn sign

Sometimes the nicest things are completely unexpected.

These flowers arrived from clients whose trip to Italy I recently planned. They had a wonderful time and wanted to say thank you.

I don’t think they realize how much that little gesture meant to me. 🧡

Lübeck was once one of the most powerful trading cities in Northern Europe. And when you visit today, you can still see evidence of that wealth everywhere.

Located in northern Germany, Lübeck was known as the “Queen of the Hanseatic League,” a medieval network of merchant cities that dominated trade across the Baltic and North Seas.

At the heart of the old town is its remarkable Rathaus (Town Hall). Construction began in the 13th century, and over the following centuries, Gothic brickwork was combined with Renaissance additions. Nearly 800 years later, it still serves as the city's town hall.

Lübeck's historic centre sits on an island surrounded by waterways and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.

It's a fascinating city to explore, especially if you enjoy architecture and history.

Modena is one Italian city where you should arrive hungry.

Famous for its balsamic vinegar, Modena has plenty to offer, and it's an easy day trip by train from Bologna.

Don't miss Mercato Albinelli, Modena's covered food market where you'll find local specialties including Parmigiano Reggiano, fresh pasta and traditional balsamic vinegar.

And speaking of balsamic vinegar, the authentic DOP variety is aged for at least 12 years. Visiting a traditional *acetaia* is a wonderful way to understand how it's made and why it's so special.

Sad news from Paris this morning.

A devastating fire has destroyed the Marché des Enfants Rouges, the oldest covered food market in Paris, located on rue de Bretagne in the Marais.

Dating back to 1615, the market has been part of Parisian life for more than 400 years. It was known for its food stalls, restaurants and local vendors, and was classified as a historic monument in 1982.

Such a terrible loss for the neighbourhood, and especially for the many independent merchants whose livelihoods depended on this beloved market.
