👟👟Transnational Cultural Routes and Pilgrimage trails are a fascinating research topic that we are lucky enough to be actively engaged in! They can be powerful tools for local development in the rural territories they traverse, but one key challenge is their multi-level governance, which involves the coordination between a myriad of actors, both across sectors and at local, regional and transnational level.

👉 As part of Center for Advanced Studies in Tourism - CAST and rurAllure project, we had the chance to participate lately in a number of events dedicated to creating synergies and further developing these networks of actors, which were the perfect occasions to network and learn about the common challenges of developing and managing pilgrimage trails in Europe.

📸 Here some pictures from lovely Val di Susa as part of the 2-day workshop and walkshop organized by GAL Escartons e Valli Valdesi to create a network of sites related to St. Michael in Europe (first 3 pictures are from Claudio Allais 😍)

Today is World Tourism Day and we have celebrated throughout the entire weekend with the first edition of .a.ca Festival of Responsible Tourism at the Sasso Simone e Simoncello interregional park!
The focus of this year is on raising awareness about tourism’s role for inclusive development, especially in the Covid-19 pandemic era, with its devastating effects for the millions of people that rely on the sector.
👉At ITACA Sasso Simone e Simoncello, there were opportunities to reflect about the role of tourism in and areas and the importance of involving the in its responsible development. This first edition of ITACA was another step towards that direction, bringing together a network of more than 20 actors working in the territory, from local associations, public and private sectors and research institutions.
💚 We are grateful for having been part of the organization of this edition and for belonging to the ITACA network of more than 700 actors in Italy!
📢The ITACA journey continues until the end of October, with next editions taking place in Ogliastra, Salento, Taranto, Brescia, Monferrato, Campania Felix and Sestri Levante Tigullio! 👇

👉👉👉Regenerative development of tourism would not be possible without connection with other local economic activities and sectors. One of these is agriculture, practiced in a responsible and conscious manner.
On the link below you can read an interview with rASOterra, a family-run farm dedicated to this type of agriculture. One part of their activities is dedicated to a tourism project ScholaBnB. About all these topics, and many more, you can find information in this article. 👇👇👇

We are happy to tell you that initiative "TouRegeneration" which we have developed with few of our colleagues has been selected among 25 finalists of CLIC project's startup competition. To enter next phase we need your help, your vote to be precise.

Thank you for your help!

The recovery of Casarette has the merit of rebuilding a cultural context where people worked in contact to the nature by collaborating. We want to challenge the noise of the mine and the highway running into the valley by reproducing the soundscape of the valley into an acustic installation.

About Echoes

We are Laura Gasparini and Stefan Lazic, tourism professionals dedicated to sustainable development of travel industry, with extensive experience in Europe, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand.

We founded Echoes of the Journey with the aim to proactively contribute to the development of a more responsible tourism, one which benefits all parties involved: local community and their culture, environment and travellers. We achieve this by actively collaborating with different sustainable tourism initiatives and organizations such as NGOs, hotels, local tourism offices, cooperatives of indigenous and rural tourism, tour operators and academic institutions.

As an added value, we create a directory of the best practices we encounter, from businesses, destinations and third-sector organizations who strive to use tourism as a tool for socio-economic development and environmental conservation. We share their stories on our website and on websites of our media partners, to promote them and inspire others to follow their example so that sustainable tourism becomes the norm rather than the exception.

For more information about our services, areas of work and cooperations we have had so far, visit our website https://echoesofthejourney.com/ or contact us through DM here.
