Only one day to hike in Wales? Do this one☝🏻

Cwm Idwal is one of the most impressive corners of Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) and if you’re short on time, it’s the right call.

We hiked the loop around the lake, then tackled the rock scramble of Twll Du (Devil’s Kitchen). The views at the top were stunning...the whole glacial valley, lakes, and peaks in every direction! ⛰️

We toasted the travel gods for blessing us with a sunny day in the Welsh mountains with some local Welsh spirits. Iechyd Da!

Practical info ✅:

-No car needed! Just 25 min on the T10 Bus from Betws-y-Coed to the Ogwen Cottage stop

-Trailhead has toilets, area info, and a small cafe ☕️

-Plan for about 4 miles to do the lake loop + Devil’s Kitchen scramble

-This area has lots of routes to surrounding peaks, follow your ambition level!

For active travelers like us, often the hotel/ Airbnb is just a place to crash after a long day. But sometimes where you stay absolutely makes the trip.

As a travel planner, I’m always chasing lodging that embodies the *vibe* of a place. Where you can fully sink into your destination instead of just sleeping in it.

This little stone cottage in Betws-y-Coed was exactly that. Tucked inside Wales’ Eryri National Park (Snowdonia), the village was the perfect jumping off point for hiking, castles, and cozy stone pubs… and we could walk or bus to all of it!

The cottage’s garden though... chef’s kiss. 🤌 (I even got in a few painting sessions 🎨)

Can’t really explain how Wales made me feel. This is gonna sound cheesy and poetic, but I wanted to immerse myself in the Welsh countryside and just... feel it.

A deep cold pull to press my hands into mossy rocks. Hold my feet in an icy stream until they ache. Let the wind ruddy my cheeks. Whisper secrets to the ancient trees.

The landscape felt wild, ancient and knowing. A few days was not enough to learn its secrets.

Everyone said I would love New Orleans....
..And they were totally right! ❤️

The architecture, the food, the cocktails, the music and most of all the PEOPLE. NOLA is such a joyful city! A long weekend wasn’t enough, can’t wait to go back! 🤩
