THE PROCEDURE IS NOT THE PLAN.

Five days of mountain bike guiding. Five days of planning, adapting, making decisions and looking beyond the ride itself.

Weather changes. Trail conditions evolve. Plans need adjusting.

But professional guiding isn’t simply about following a route. It’s about understanding why we make certain decisions, when to adapt and how to manage the unexpected.

A procedure provides a framework. A plan provides direction. Neither replaces experience and judgement.

And that’s where the real value of professional guiding lies.

At Trails Adventure, we believe responsible mountain biking goes beyond simply riding the trails.

We keep talking about investing more money in trail maintenance. But are we making the best use of the resources we already have?

Better standards. Better planning. Longer-lasting results.

Because world-class trails deserve world-class maintenance.

Trail stewardship isn’t something we should only talk about — it’s something we should carry with us every time we ride.

These multitools are going to members of the Guiding Collective, helping us deal with the small things we encounter on the trails and leave them a little better than we found them.

A massive thank you to Kevin & Tracey for donating them. 🙏
Returning clients who don’t just come to Finale to ride the trails — they actively want to give something back to them.

The trails pay our bills. What do we owe them?

In places like Finale, trails generate an entire economy: guides, shuttles, shops, hotels, restaurants, events.

But how much of that value actually goes back into the trails?

Stewardship isn’t somebody else’s job. Especially when your livelihood depends on the very thing that needs looking after.

So here’s the uncomfortable question:

If you make money from trails, should contributing to their maintenance still be optional?

The bikes changed beyond recognition. The industry became incredibly good at selling technology, specs and innovation.

But maybe we stopped talking enough about the most important part:

How much fun it is to ride a bike.

Same line. Different bike. Same reason.
