For The Athlete, Through The Athlete. 2026 Recap: The Team BigBodyXX branch of Flexx Training Systems came in on the weekend with an 88% hit rate. An average or 1 missed lift amongst 4 total athletes. Amanee going 8/9, Funmi going 9/9 and had zero red lights on the day, Anthony going 7/9, and Timothy going 8/9. Only 1 lift missed off of strength for the weekend.
Amanee Starks - Amanee weighing in at 69.5 matched her squat and DL PR’s and PR’d her bench by 7.5kg giving her a 7.5kg total PR with more in the tank on DL. I’m happy about her attitude, her focus, and her energy especially how she handled a severe glute and QL injury shortly after the JTB performance in March. Amanee is EXTREMELY coachable and makes my job seem less to help her. I couldn’t ask for a better athlete and person to work with. Solid performance to build off of as we enter deep fall/winter training.
Funmi Akeredolu - Funmi and I have been working together for 3.5 blocks. She has managed to make huge improvements in such a short time. We hit her first 185kg (407lbs) squat, PR’d Bench all time with 105kg, and hit her first 227.5kg DL (501lbs). +7.5 squat, +2.5 bench, +12.5 DL, +27.5 in 3.5 blocks of work. Funmi is a sweet heart to the core, a very kind and calm soul, and an exceptional athlete. Super easy to work with as well, and at her trajectory I see her doing scary things on the platform and making a case for a new women’s weight class needed in the sport.
Anthony Wixon - Ant had a crazy eventful spring and summer. His occupation and obligations are not normal for what your typical PL’ers routine would entail. Lots travel, weekly to monthly flights, and training could be in a different country or state month to month. He also had some big moves made in his life that required additional energy and focus there. Nonetheless his desire to keep showing up stay consistent was unwavering. These results manifested simply because of his effort and care for his lifting career. He does this for the love of the game. He’s new to the sport but he’s talented and he’s hungry. +15 squat (270kg), +10 DL (325kg), +22.5kg on the total overall and 5lbs lighter weigh in than his first meet. Weighing in @ 86 on the day, Ant has so much
