Cochin Port Authority celebrated the 80thIndependence Day on 15 August 2026 with patriotic fervour at the lawns of the Administrative Building of Cochin Port Authority.
Dr. M. Angamuthu, IAS, Chairperson, Cochin Port Authority, hoisted the National Flag and received the Guard of Honour presented by the CISF contingent.
Addressing the gathering, Chairperson stated that Cochin Port, with nearly 98 years of service, has continued to grow and achieve new milestones. The Chairperson complimented the entire Cochin Port family for achieving the highest-ever cargo volume of 38.06 MMT and crossing the ₹1,000 crore mark in financial turnover, describing the achievement as a true collective effort and appreciating the hardwork and contribution of all employees and stakeholders. Looking ahead, the Port has set an ambitious target of crossing 40 MMT of cargo this year and reaching 50 MMT or more within the next four to five years, along with a financial benchmark of ₹1,500–₹2,000 crore. The development of Cochin Port will be pursued in harmony with the aspirations of the people of Kochi, ensuring that the Port, the city and the State grow and benefit together.

Bhagyanath, Financial Adviser and Chief Accounts Officer; Capt. T. Muthu Kumar, Deputy Conservator; Capt. Himanshu Shekhar, Traffic Manager; Col. Jassar S.M., Chief Engineer; Dr. Jayalekshmi R. Kurup, Chief Medical Officer (i/c); Shri P. Muniasamy, Chief Mechanical Engineer (i/c); Shri Siddharth Paul, Deputy Commandant, CISF, CoPA Unit; senior officers, employees of Cochin Port Authority & CISF personnel and their family members attended the celebration.
The programme also featured vibrant cultural performances by the family members of Cochin Port Authority employees & CISF personnel and reflex shooting demo by CISF, Cochin Port Unit, adding to the spirit of the Independence Day celebrations. The Chairperson and other dignitaries distributed prizes to the children who participated in the cultural programmes.
The celebration concluded on a patriotic and festive note, with the participation of officers, employees, CISF personnel and their families reflecting the spirit of unity and national pride.
