In 2013, we were approached by a nearby orphanage to admit their children in Nirmala Vidyalaya, one of our schools in Bangalore. Their previous school had closed down and they desperately needed a new school. We were moved and didn't hesitate. Soon, 83 students joined us. They blossomed! But sadly, the orphanage found t
hemselves struggling for finances and considered pulling these precious orphans out of our school. We realised that if that happened, these dear children would not receive quality education. As a result, The Aashi Project was born. The minimum cost of educating one child for an academic year, including their tuition fee, textbooks and notebooks, uniform, and transportation is Rs 12,000 (INR).
