The purpose of ring roads are to direct traffic and traffic congestion away from city centers. These facilities such as the Jack Lynch Tunnel now look likely to be earmarked for a short term money making operation for the Irish Government. These measure will stifle any growth Irish Hauliers are attempting to achieve and will instead add further pressure to already tight margins, threatening their survival. More concrete long term sustainable solutions should be considered and more creative problem solving measures are required by this new government.
