Kilkenny Limestone on the floor of a fifteenth-century tower house in Derry. The material logic is straightforward: Irish stone for an Irish fort. Culmore Fort, destroyed in 1688 and reconstructed in 1780, has been restored in 2025 as a community space using lime, h**p, lead and timber. A new terraced stair introduces informal seating into the tower. The original stone stair, capped for decades, opens again onto the battlement. Old fabric, careful additions, nothing that does not earn its place.

Kilkenny Limestone - Câble C1, Paris.
Île-de-France's first urban cable car line, connecting Créteil to Villeneuve-Saint-Georges across 4.5 km and five stations. At Station Bois Matar, the façade cladding and paving are now complete in Kilkenny Limestone. Flamed, honed and polished finishes combined across a station built for 11,000 passengers a day.
The choice of stone was technical as much as visual. The blue-grey bluestone handles high load-bearing demands, resists slip, and holds up under continuous public use. Against the modern architecture of Atelier Schall, it reads as grounded and precise.🚠

350 million years ago, this was a living reef. The same fossils you see here are now on floors, patios, and streets around the world. No two slabs are the same, because no two fossils are the same. That is Kilkenny Limestone.
