I've been tipping away quietly on this project. I've reached out to various politicians (FG, FF, SD) for advice on how to best progress and I have recently started generating support from local businesses.
Last week I was chatting to the local town engineer about my proposal and plans. He was very informative and explained plans commencing soon under the R584 (Old N22) to resurface and widen the footpath from edge of Macroom to Coolcour and resurface the road, which most will agree is in very poor condition. Initial works resurfacing out by Coolcour and majority post Xmas. Hopefully the improvements here will not only improve conditions for motorists but also accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists.

Any further help or support from local businesses would be greatly appreciated.

I was speaking to newly elected Fine Gael candidate Michael Creed (Councillor) yesterday about the Macroom Gearagh Greenway and he has offered his full support to the proposal.
When the ammendment was made to the Cork County Development Plan the next stage would be to get local politicians to try push the project forward at government level and obtain funding for feasibility study and so on.
As we near closer to a general election make sure to make your voice heard to your local politician. Funding is noticeable countrywide for improved facilities such as greenways, make sure our polticians know when they call 😉
