Export season has started! 🌎 🥔

The arrival of Mr Saad, Technical Advisor for Domiatec Agri-Group, marks the beginning of another busy export season from Scotland to Egypt!🛳️

Mr Saad has started visiting our growers and is very pleased with the quality of the seed potatoes he has looked at so far, particularly the good tuber size and strong tuber numbers which will please the Egyptian growers!🌱

Over the next few weeks Mr Saad will meet many more growers as he travels throughout Scotland inspecting all the crops destined for Egypt.

A closer look beneath the soil in Timau! 🥔🌱

Our team has been test digging in our Java and Shangi potato plots to see how the crops are progressing before harvest. We’re checking skin firmness, tuber size and likely yield, while looking for any signs of crop health issues.

These checks help us choose the right time to harvest and avoid lifting the potatoes too early.

Here are a few moments from the field as our team assesses the crop. 📸

Happy farmer! 🚜
Harvesting a 'Sensation' field in the Hauts-de-France region. Good yields, large size and smooth skins. 🥔

At this time of year, our team in Scotland are incredibly busy test digging crops as we begin to assess their yield, quality and market potential.

We test dig every crop. Depending on the size of the field, we usually take between two and five separate two-metre digs, with the samples brought back to our store for detailed assessment.

This quality check process helps ensure that the right potatoes reach the right market so our customers receive the best quality potatoes. 🥔
