Brian O'Driscoll's last appearance in an Irish jersey dominated the headlines on Saturday but Paris also saw the end of a much more controversial member of the IrishRugby team - Gordon D'Arcy's beard. Over the past season the beard had become even better known than its mercurial owner. In the darker moments of the 2014 RBS 6 Nations some even wondered if the ghost of Charles Stewart Parnell was playing at No 12. But on Saturday night, in one of the lightening fast, dexterous and cunning moves that define him, Jonathan Sexton wielded a razor to lay the beard to rest. Ireland are Champions! Ireland held off a ferocious French assault in the last 10 minutes where Jonny Sexton was stretchered off to win by 22 to 20. Brian O'Driscoll named - what a way to say goodbye!
