The Roads Beyond the Ring of Kerry 🛣️.

I was recently asked to write an article about my Kerry Road Trip Experience for the Killarney Advertiser We Are Killarney Magazine, their annual travel publication. My goal for this article was to show that there is far more to the Iveragh Peninsula than the main tourist trail and that it is more rewarding to break away from the N70.

In the article I chronicled my Top 5 Off the Beaten Track Routes, the challenge with this part of Ireland is always the balance of beautiful scenery and the challenging road surface, but I believe all these routes are too beautiful not to explore.

This road trip was made all the more special with our accommodation partner Gleneagle Killarney and the star of the show, the Kellihers Garage GR Yaris.

The crown jewel of Irish Tarmac Rallying, this is Moll’s Gap ⛰️.

The start of the Moll’s Gap stage is shortly after Torc Waterfall, the start line a permanent fixture on the road, this is where the real fun begins 🌲.

From here up until Ladies View is extremely twisty and demanding, extremely fun in a rally car, more difficult to enjoy in a road car due to it being an open road.

The top section from Ladies View to the summit is extremely enjoyable due to the fast flowing nature of the road, Looscaunagh being a particular highlight.

Driving a GR Yaris through the stunning Healy Pass is why Tigre Motor Club was created ⛰️.

The Healy Pass is a 12.5 km stretch of relentless winding tarmac, climbing to an altitude of 334 meters. The road is extremely narrow, making a compact, agile car such as the GR Yaris essential. The surface is generally good and extremely grippy in dry conditions 🛣️.
