Add this hidden gem to your County Galway bucket list 📍👇
If you’re exploring the Wild Atlantic Way or driving the famous Sky Road, you have to stop at Clifden Castle. Built in 1812 by John D'Arcy, this Gothic Revival manor house is now a stunning, roofless ruin completely open to the elements.
The walk down from the main road takes about 10–15 minutes, passing by mock standing stones before opening up to incredible views of the castle ruins against Clifden Bay. It’s completely free to visit, though parking nearby is tight!
💬 Have you explored Connemara yet?

8.5 miles Droitwich to Bromsgrove (Train stations). This delightful walk mixes canal towpaths with fields, hills, common and woodland. Halfway along is the beautiful Hanbury Hall (NT), perfect for a stop off if you have time.
Much of this walk is a delightfully peaceful affair and gives a much needed bit of time to just enjoy the countryside. With views across The Malverns and surrounding rural areas, this is an excellent route for those seeking a linear public transport option.

Warm sun, cool breeze, heart full on a joyous walk through the Warwickshire countryside. From Wootton Wawen to Henley through meadows and fields in the middle of spring. This is what an afternoon walk at the weekend is all about.

A day out on the Grand Union Canal - Long Buckby to Bugbrooke. Sun, boats and lots of fresh air... What's not to love about this walk?
The great thing about towpaths is how flexible the routes can be and it's great for so many ability levels.

Walking The Grand Union Canal on a beautiful sunny day? Time to sit back and take a moment beside the water. I love towpath walks, there's so much to see and the reward is great for all abilities. Get down to your local canal and have a walk!

An evening walk on the canal towpath can bring many different surprises. Spring is one of the best times with new life in both the flowers and the animals. A little bit of happiness ☺️

Hidden away beside the river Usk and the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal is the Afon Crawnon Valley. This small stretch of path passes a delightful mix of waterfalls and woodlands before climbing out onto farmland and rural countryside. Worth a look if you're near Llangynidr and make it part of a bigger circular walk!
