What had started as a nice first stage had turned into a disaster throughout the day.
Mayo & District Motorsport Club Mayo Stages was meant to have and I quote “some of the best stages in years” but from what was circulating online it must have been the most dangerous stages in years .Some competitors throughout the SS4/5 decide to just drive through the stage as the thought that it was not worth the risk. Where i was at towards the end SS1 at Location 13 after SS1 came through the road was nearly just mud some corners had a lot of of the grass area on the corner gone from this and mud was and with the yellow rain warning we had in that part of the stage i would have thought would be tricky. While waiting for SS4 the rain came and it was heavy so bad that i did not even get out of the car and decide to watch for a bit from the car my guess is the road was just slippy mud and towards the end i think i was right when i got news of a bad crash towards the end from another spectator and it was confirmed to me a few moments later when a rally rescue unit and 2 ambulances went through the stage at this moment my heart dropped hoping that who ever was involved was ok i have not heard anything else since. A video started circulating for Car 3 Josh Moffett calling the stages “dangerous and a joke that it should be allowed cars on and that the club should have the licences pulled” this is from a driver that does not say much but his emotions where high and i dont blame him from what i can gather all the stages where very dangerous and drivers where just driving through some even just packed up and left after first service.
There was a lot of frustration from all drivers at the end the Mayo Stages rally was halted due to weather and this was the final result
