Lovina Beach - The Bali Dolphin Beach

Lovina Beach is a combination of smaller beaches spanning several local villages between two districts in the North Bali regency of Buleleng. The beach is a great alternative to the highly popular (and often crowded beaches of Bali's south, the likes of Kuta, Legian and Seminyak. Calmer waves, serene black-sand shores, thrills in the offing, and a nightlife scene, are just a few things that sum up this quaint north Bali coast.

Lovina Beach spans two kilometers east to west, with a small area in the Kalibukbuk village as its main focal point. Sunsets are quite the highlight here, with rather subdued nightlife after dusk. A large parking space borders the beach with rows of cafés and trendy seafood restaurants at its sides. Near the sand, a single towering dolphin statue stands as an official landmark. Walk to the east and you will encounter further rows of art shops and small warung traditional stalls offering snacks and refreshments beside an airy boardwalk.

Lovina Beach’s sunrises are as ‘gently exciting’ as its sunsets, and are when participants of dolphin watching tours board colourful traditional motorised jukung outriggers to catch a glimpse of the several different species in these waters. Keep your camera gear ready as these flippers breach the smooth water surface in a blink of an eye. The most frequently sighted species are the dark-skinned spinner dolphin (Stenella longirostris) that are present all year round, except during the Chinese Lunar New Year period, when wind and rains are heavy and irregular (roughly from February to April).

Nusa Lembongan - Alternative Beautiful Destination In The Island Of The Gods

There’s much you can see and do while on Nusa Lembongan, including a collection of pristine beaches with coarse white sand, soaring cliff viewpoints, and sea views that can get very idyllic at sunset, overlooking the outline of Bali’s highest peak, Mount Agung, on the horizon. Other land attractions include a mysterious underground house, lush mangrove forests, and seafood farming villages that retain their old ways.

On Lembongan alone, there’s a great collection of surf breaks along its northwest coast, while snorkelers and divers can enjoy the crystal clear waters and vivid reefs off its southwestern coasts and around the neighbouring island of Nusa Penida. Although a single-day cruise is usually enough to experience one island, you’ll require an overnight stay to be able to fit it all into your itinerary. Here are the few highlights of interest.

Menjangan Island - The Protected Marine Reserve of West Part of Bali

Just off the northwest coast of Bali lies a small island with the name Menjangan island (of Pulau Menjangan in the Indonesian language). This island is situated in the protected marine reserve of the Bali Barat National Park.

The island is surrounded by hectares of beautiful coral reef gardens with a very diverse eco biology, which makes it a favorite destination for snorkelers as well as divers. The good drop-offs on Menjangan’s south side is a popular spot for local people and tourists wishing to dive for a variety of fish and coral reef exploration. There are no dangerous currents to contend with in this area. Apart from a high diversity of coral species and colorful, tropical fish there are also many kinds of sea birds and shorebirds frequenting the island.

Also the Hawkesbill Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) is sighted frequently in the area. Menjangan island is often referred to as Deer Island as it happens to be the habitat of the Barking Deer or Muntjac (Muntiacus muntjak).

Visitors can regularly spot these deer taking a bath at the secluded, sandy beaches of the island. North West BaliTo reach Menjangan island you can hire a motorboat from Pemuteran / Labuhan Lalang (30-40 min). Labuhan Lalang lies at the main road to Singaraja and is accessible by bemo (minibus) from both Gilimanuk and Singaraja.

Traveling by private car from Singaraja to Pemutaran / Labuhan Lalang will take you about 1,5 to 2 hours. When traveling by bemo/minibus travel time should be doubled at least, due to the stops on the way and waiting times at the main terminals.

If you are going to visit Bali it would certainly be recommendable to also plan a day or two to explore some of these natural and cultural gems that West Bali has to offer

Jembong Waterfall - The Unique Waterfall in North Part of Bali

The north of Bali island is indeed famous with its waterfalls. Here, we can find so many interesting waterfalls that we can visit and enjoy the nature and one of it is the Jembong Waterfall. The Jembong waterfall is located in the Ambengan village, Sukasada district, Buleleng regency. This place can be reached in 2 hours drive from Denpasar city or only 15 km from the Bedugul tourist attraction.

The existence of this waterfall is probably unfamiliar in your ear, unlike the Gitgit waterfall or Sekumpul waterfall, but the beauty of the Jembong waterfall is no less than those waterfalls. What makes it different and also unique is that this waterfall is not perpendicular like any of waterfalls generally, but it flows in a slope of 75 degrees, so the water doesn’t make a rumbling sound. This condition allows the visitor to enjoy a more relaxing, calm, and peaceful atmosphere.

Tanjung Benoa - The Heaven of Watersport in Bali

Tanjung Benoa, like many other beachside destinations in Bali, used to be a fishing village and an old dock.
The development of the peninsula has been very significant as most of the shore-side properties are now hotels, resorts and water sports operators.

The remaining mangrove marsh still lies at the western side of the entrance. Tanjung Benoa is located 15 kilometres from the international airport but if you are already staying within the Nusa Dua cluster, it is just few steps away from the west gate

Serangan Island - Turtle Conservation and Education Center

Serangan Island is, located 10km south of Denpasar is often referred to as ‘Turtle Island’, due to it being a frequent nesting ground for green sea turtles. This has drastically changed over the years, and consumption of turtle meat as well as the use of sea turtles in ceremonies is now a tale of the past. Serangan Island is also home to Sakenan Temple, located on the westernmost edge of the island. Reclamations in the 90s have led to a drastic change of pilgrims’ ways and the natural landscape. Once a separate land mass only reachable by traditional wooden boats, it is now easily accessed via a 110m bridge.

To most people, Serangan Island is small, hot and humid, with average beaches to enjoy. In fact, it's considered among the least-visited attractions in Bali. But several unique features of this small island make it a stand out. The island's population is mostly involved in the fishing industry. A Bugis Muslim community lives harmoniously alongside the predominantly Hindu residents. On its northern shore, many locally made fishing boats are moored by the village.

Serangan is also famous for its water sports, especially surfing on its eastern side. This led it to be officially chosen as among the three other main venues for the first Asian Beach Games held in Bali in 2008, hosting the surfing and windsurfing segments. Sakenan Temple on its western shore is one of the holiest in Bali, where thousands attend three days of temple festivities every 210 days a year, coinciding with the Kuningan celebrations. Various sacred dances are performed over the period.
