I recently finished a mural for a friend inspired by this iconic image of Josephine Baker.

The goal wasn’t just to recreate the image — it was to reinterpret it so it felt like part of her home’s design. Her house has a really fun mid-century / vintage aesthetic, so I simplified the shapes and added a bold yellow shadow behind Josephine that echoes a wall color in her kitchen.

Designing pieces that interact with the space around them is one of my favorite kinds of projects. Seeing it installed and living in the room was so satisfying!

She’s officially out of the palace… 👑🐷✨

After layers of paint, pearls, blush, and a little bit of chaos — my Rococo pig queen is finished.

What started as a pair of that already had the adorable embroidery on the back became something completely new. Inspired by Marie Antoinette, dramatic diva energy, and that iconic “Let Them Eat Cake” attitude, I wanted to create something that felt over-the-top, feminine, sassy, and completely my own.

Every detail is hand-painted — from the macarons tucked in her wig to the soft clouds surrounding the lettering. Wearable art, but make it Versailles.

I am SO proud of how these turned out. Would you wear them or frame them? 💕 I can’t decide (although who am I kidding, I will be wearing these bad boys everywhere).

Work in progress 👑🐷

This pair started because I couldn’t stop looking at the stitching on the back of the Vans — the little bow shapes instantly felt very Marie Antoinette to me… and somehow also very Miss Piggy 😅

So I leaned into it. Not trying to copy either one, but creating my own version inspired by both — powdered wig energy, dramatic lashes, and just the right amount of attitude. I wanted her to feel a little royal, a little ridiculous, and very sassy.

Still layers to go, but I’m honestly loving how she’s coming to life so far ✨

🌊 🐠 Just Keep Swimming 🐠 🌊

I had the honor of painting the backdrop for the spring play at my daughter’s school recently. Over 24ft long and 8 feet tall, it was by far the largest painting I’ve ever done and it was a blast! 4 days of “ooo”’s and “aaah”’s from the cast kept my spirits high through the ugly stages, and I’m so excited about how it turned out! It has been wonderful to get back into the swing of painting after time away. Thank you to the directors for trusting me to bring your underwater vision to life!
