Urođenici Maori, s kojima su skupa radili, nazvali su ih Tarara zbog brzog pričanja i česte upotrebe glasa r. ožujka se održava Tarara Dan, kad se slavi zajedništvo Hrvata i Maora na Novom Zelandu. The tourist ship MB TARARA was named after the Croats who inhabited the northern coast of New Zealand in the early 19th century to dig kauri rubber. The Maori natives they worked with called them Tarara because of their fast talk and frequent use of the r word.
