Hey there! Has Croatia made it onto your ☀️MUST VISIT☀️list yet? As someone who specializes in Croatian travel, I’m always amazed at how many places are still on my “yet to be discovered” list for this incomparable country!

Brač Island is one of them. Did you know there are more than one THOUSAND islands/islets off the coast of Croatia? You wouldn’t exactly get the impression from looking at this picture that this is one of the largest islands in Croatia would you? {152 square miles to be exact}

While Brač definitely caters to its fair share of tourists, there’s no escaping the charm of the stone houses {Brač island is famous for its stone quarries-our own White House here in the USA boasts white stone from Brač}, the crystal clear water & pebbly beaches, or the allure of local olive oil varietals, and fresh seafood.

Visiting Morocco is definitely on my {MUST} do list. And Marrakech is so alluring I have a whole Pinterest board of Riads-they’re so pretty!! One of the things I’m always struck by are the TEXTURES. The patinated stone walls, the tiles and wood. Even with the bright colors you often see here in Morocco, wouldn’t you agree that the whole atmosphere feels so soothing?

United has decided to stop charging change fees for domestic travel-PERMANENTLY! 🙌 This applies to full price economy tickets and higher classes. {Basic economy is treated as a discounted ticket that is not eligible for this free change.}
✈️Under special rules during COVID, you can also change *international tickets* through the end of the year.

I feel like so many of us are being pushed to become creative when it comes to quenching our need to travel and explore. At the beginning of April, it was my husband’s Spring Break from school and our plans for flying somewhere were dashed. Determined not to stay home, but to also observe social distancing, we took to the woods. I’m SO glad we did. The solitude one finds in the woods is incomparable. It brought us so much peace! We ❤️ camping!Top reasons why:

So I’ve been a little quiet over here at Designed to Roam, and I’m SURE I don’t have to tell you why! My clients and fellow travelers aren’t the only ones who’ve had to postpone summer travel plans.😩This has affected my own 2020 plans of course, and let me tell you: I’m just like you when it comes to having the blues about all of this!

One minute I’m taking it all in stride, content to let the universe work this all out.

The next minute I’m playing fortune teller-mustering up my greatest powers of prediction regarding all the restrictions.

WHEN WILL WE TRAVEL AGAIN??

I still haven’t canceled our July trip to Slovenia & Croatia. I know we probably won’t be taking this trip. But breaking up is hard to do. We take our longest trip of the year in summer, when my husband is off from teaching school. So postponing to 2021 feels almost unbearable. Exploring away from home is as essential for me as meditation, religious worship, yoga, or music is for others. It thrills me, educates me, gives me purpose.
✨
So the next best thing is an extended wanderlust period, where I daydream, look at photos, read articles and travel guides, and share my own knowledge with my most intimate tribe of travel lovers. You’re going to be seeing a lot of Slovenia & Croatia content in the upcoming weeks and months, and I’m not even sorry. You won’t be either!

It’s hard to believe, but Slovenia really does look just like this. I’ve rarely seen such unspoiled natural beauty in all my life. And just like in this photo, you would not believe how many solitary moments you’ll have to enjoy your surroundings without others. Although, I have to say that Slovenians are SO respectful of the natural world and those they are sharing it with, that I hardly think you’ll be bothered if you do cross paths with someone.
