I’m sharing this to inspire anyone who feels confused about what step to take after graduating from the university.
Back in 2022, during my final months of HND studies at Ho Technical University (HTU), I was in the same position, unsure of what to do next. I had the idea of importing products from China, though I knew how difficult it would be to start a business when trust is so hard to earn at the beginning.
I invested in an online course to learn the ropes and started the business just before beginning my National Service at Tema L**e Oil Company Limited (TLOC), where I worked as a warehouse assistant. I managed to grow the business alongside my service. Like every beginner, I made some losses that could have easily discouraged customers and made me look unreliable. But with persistence and the support of colleagues who knew me personally, I overcame those challenges.
I still remember picking up my very first batch of orders in just a carton. Today, I pick up packages with mini trucks. What started small is now officially registered as Vhim Hauz Enterprise, a business that pays my bills and supports me as I pursue a Top Up Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
If there’s one lesson I’ve learned, it’s this: business growth comes through consistency, even in the face of challenges.
