Family day out to Llandudno. Saw lots of other dogs out and about with their parents and thankfully the rain kept off!

The end of August and the leap into Autumn. Mum had a birthday last week and as Dad was working it was just the two of us up Moel Famau for the traditional morning hike, cloudy up top but we made a good time of 40 mins from the carpark - very happy with that given the sniffathon along the route! This weekend was spent at home with a local walk at Gresford in the woods until today when we decided to brave any showers and have a gentle wander at Craflywn near Beddgelert - nice to see the waterfalls starting to flow again after all of the dry days this month.

A family trip to Eryri on Friday took us to the very busy Capel Curig and the Ogwen Valley. We stayed out for the night, it was so very comfy sleeping on the van pillows! When the alarm went off at 5am it took a little while to wake my sleepy eyes but we needed an early start to park up in the valley and beat the crowds. We headed to the quieter side, following Ffynnon Lloer to the top and watching the light change across the valley as the sun dipped in an out of the clouds. Finished our walk by lunchtime so Mum and Dad boiled up a coffee while I snoozed then we headed off for a second walk from Bryn Glo through the woods and over the hillside, returning via the pub where we had tea - they do a cracking burger and steak pie! The hoped-for sunset wasn't to be, not a cloud in the sky and lacking atmosphere so we travelled back late on via a quick stop at the panorama in Llangollen then home for much needed sleep - although by the look of the photos you will see that I wasn't exactly too short of sleep over this trip 😂😴

The tree in the garden keeps dropping these fabulous new balls for me to play with, they are pretty tasty too! 😜🍎

Back in the mountains with a bang today and I got to place my paws on a new summit, Pen Llithrig y Wrach meaning Hill of the Slippery Witch. Mum and Dad tell me that they've done this route a couple of times and are usually plodding through boggy ground but today it was lovely and dry and we managed to keep on the path all the way. We were chased by ponies at one point, so much for trying to not disturb them! Our route down took us over Pen yr Helgi Du which I've done before as a pup then we called at the Secret Coffee Shop for drinks to take on the two mile plod along the old road back to the van. Little did we know that there was a full two mile plague of flying ants that we ended up power walking through. Shattered by the time we got back.

We saw sheep, cows (but they were plenty far away) and the ponies along the way, a few stiles to be carried over and many easy gates. Lots of water taken and all of it drunk, luckily there was some nice flowing water to fill up from and to dip my paws in on the way down. This is the peaceful side of the Ogwen Valley, we never saw a person for the first half and then just the odd few further on. Ten miles in the bag.

We had a couple of quiet weekends recently what with it being too hot and then last week I had a bit of a wuff tummy which kept us close to home. Today, despite the forecast change in weather we headed out anyway. Our first planned walk was cut short when we came across a field full of thistles, a herd of cows and the rain poured from the skies. We spent a pleasant hour driving some mountain roads and seeking out new spots then as it dried off we decided to take a stroll up a track to see where it went to. A lovely surprise to top out on Y Garnedd, a small hill being the highest point of the moorland with a summit cairn and views of two, new to us, lakes. Must go back to check out the area some more. Back home for tea and then to pester Mum & Dad to take me for a sniff in the park, energy back to full on levels 🤣

After an evening in the van, we got up at 4am to see the sunrise which stayed well hidden for the most part behind a big cloud. We had tentatively planned on hiking Snowdon to tick off one of the other paths for me but due to the cloud cover we instead headed to trusty Cwm Idwal. Nearly got to the top of Tryfan from the south ridge but Mum hit her hand hurting her wrist a little on the path just before Bwlch Tryfan so we decided to leave off the scramble and head back down via Llyn Bochlwyd and Llyn Idwal.

Llyn Bochlwyd has an interesting name which means Lake of the Grey Cheek. It tells the story of a brave stag who escaped hunters by swimming across the lake with just it's grey cheek showing above the water.

Mum by the way is fine, no injuries but we just didn't think it a good idea to need three points of contact with a sore wrist.
