A well-prepared vehicle can make roadside breakdowns safer and far less stressful. Here are the essential items every driver should keep on board and why they matter:

⭐️ High-vis vest: Ensures you remain visible to other road users when exiting the vehicle.
⭐️ Warning triangle: Alerts approaching traffic and increases the safety zone around your vehicle (not for motorway use).
⭐️ Torch with spare batteries: Helps you see and be seen in low-light conditions, especially during winter.
⭐️ Warm clothing or blanket: Keeps you protected from the cold if you need to wait outside the vehicle.
⭐️ Phone charger or power bank: Ensures you can contact your fleet team or breakdown services without losing power.
⭐️ De-icer and ice scraper: Helps you clear glass quickly if frost sets in while you’re stopped.
⭐️First aid kit: Provides essential supplies should minor injuries occur during recovery.

Equipping your vehicle with these basics can significantly improve roadside safety and reduce risk for both drivers and fleet operations.

Taking a little extra time during preparation and fitting can make a big difference to the final finish and help your kit perform as intended.

Before you get started:
• Clean the surface thoroughly using a suitable surface cleaner to remove dirt, grease and residue. Make sure the vehicle is completely dry before application.

• Check your positioning by using masking tape to temporarily position the panels. This makes it easier to check that everything is straight, central and correctly aligned before committing.

• Work from the centre outwards using a squeegee to push out trapped air and achieve a smooth, consistent finish.

• Check the temperature before fitting. Apply your kit in temperatures above 10°C and give the adhesive sufficient time to cure before washing the vehicle.

Good preparation means easier fitting, a cleaner finish and a chevron kit that's ready to do its job.

Air Release technology is available across our Engineering Grade, Premium Grade and Premium Plus materials, giving installers a simpler way to achieve cleaner, more consistent results.

Using micro-channel adhesive technology, Air Release allows trapped air to escape during application. This helps reduce bubbles and imperfections while making the material easier to position and reposition, particularly when working with larger panels or more complex vehicle shapes.

For trade installers, that means:
• Faster, more efficient installations
• Reduced waste and fewer rejects
• Cleaner results with less effort
• A more straightforward fitting process for in-house teams

Choosing the right layout for your chevron kit is an important part of achieving both the finish and functionality you need. The layout affects installation, maintenance and overall presentation, so understanding the differences helps ensure your kit performs well over time.

🔴 Planked kits are produced as individual strips, offering greater flexibility and easier replacement of damaged sections. This layout is particularly well suited to vehicles with curves, contours or complex panel shapes, and is a practical choice for fleets that prioritise straightforward maintenance and quick repairs.

🟡 Flooded kits use a single piece of yellow material with red strips applied over the top, creating a clean and continuous appearance. Many operators favour this option for its polished finish and strong on-road presence, and fleets often choose it when they want consistent branding across multiple vehicles.

Both layouts deliver reliable visibility, so the right choice will ultimately depend on your vehicle’s design and your preferred maintenance approach.
