Why not join us for a visit to Uppark House on Monday 13 July
Uppark is a fine example of a 17th
century country house, crowning the South
Downs ridge in West Sussex. Cherished by
generations of families, Uppark has attracted a
succession of colourful owners, residents and
visitors including the Fetherstonhaugh family,
Emma Hamilton and a young H.G. Wells. Now
reopened following major works, the mansion
at Uppark is decorated with antique furniture,
ornaments and paintings. We will be able to
enjoy a free flow visit to the house and getting
a fascinating insight into 18th century life in
this fine country house both above and below
stairs. There will be plenty to see including The Servery,
Dining Room, Stone Hall, Little Parlour,
The Saloon and the Red and Little Drawing Rooms,
Tapestry Bedroom and Lower Servants Hall. The
intimate and colourful gardens at Uppark offer a variety of different
spaces and experiences including a scented
garden, amphitheatre, architectural flourishes
and panoramic views across the South Downs.
