We’ll be running all three days of the Bank Holiday weekend, alongside Toddington Narrow Gauge Railway as part of the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway’s Cotswold Festival of Steam.

Take a short journey to California Crossing in a steam-hauled (subject to availability) open carriage, the garden railway is alongside the station platform and restored, operational signalbox.

16mm Association members are welcome to bring locos and stock to run, although we ask you to make contact beforehand so we can ensure arrangements are in place for your visit.

Honey, I shrunk the loco…

Quick visit to the railway today to take some critical dimensions and get detailed photos of a lovely Avonside/Hunslet 0-4-2 in 16mm scale by Peter Angus.

It’s very similar to ‘Chaka’s Kraal No. 6’, out-of-ticket but on display at California Crossing on the Toddington Narrow Gauge Railway.

Next running days will be all three days of the late May Bank Holiday (Saturday 23rd, Sunday 24th, Monday 25th May). While this loco has now gone back to its home base elsewhere in the UK, there are likely to be a range of miniature steam engines running on the garden railway alongside 2’ and Standard gauge as part of Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway’s Cotswold Festival of Steam!

Any guesses as to which 16mm-scale live steam loco will be on the layout today?

A day of April showers, and the kit is now all unpacked to dry. We did manage to run alongside every Toddington Narrow Gauge Railway service, and even clocked a large articulated loco on both inner and outer circuits… the rain then sunshine made for some very impressive steam effects!

Some new and unique locos today, with a good vantage point point for Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway’s Vintage Cotswold event.

Not pictured: Betton Grange (6880) and a beautifully maintained GWR railcar (W22).

We’re back again tomorrow (Sunday 12 April) alongside Toddington Narrow Gauge Railway.

Even though the Toddington Narrow Gauge Railway is now closed for the season, work continues when time and weather permits. We recently reorganised our working spaces and storage so that there’s more floor space for those inclement days like today. Kettle, oil heater and plenty of 240V sockets are now more easily accessible, with improved storage and working space.
