A bit of stripping seats for Hastings Diesels, a bit of tidying up and storing components for 3417 and moving some heavy gear for the The Southern Electric Traction Group C.I.C IT Upgrade.

But the most fun was stripping down the cushion from a chair which used to be used by the Chief Booking Clerk’s office at Canterbury East station. The chair was rescued by a booking clerk when the station was refurbished in the late 1970s. We think it would have been made in the late 40s or early 50s but have no idea where - maybe Ashford or Brighton? But it certainly hasn’t been touched since; the trapped dust was amazing! This will be re-covered with fresh Fleur de Lys-pattern moquette, with a new fire-resistant calico underlay.

Definitely time for a pint 🙂

And thank you for the kind comments regarding Maggie’s birthday. She’s much missed, and we’ll be raising a glass to her memory this evening.
