Update Tianjin Xingang situation for 19th Aug:

For export:
1. Most of the vessel with ETD XGG around 21-23 of Aug has announced departing from Xingang without loading any container or even announced not to call Xingang port at all. As the result, all the loaded containers which has been waiting at the dock for loading, now needs to cancel their export declaration and haul the container to another dock. As the matter of fact, it's rather impossible to find any container truck or crane equipment to do the operating at terminal at this moment.

2. export manifest upload & ENS declaration can operate properly now, but the container check-in-notice has some difficulty to upload because normally it's trucking company or warehouse / CY to do this job, some of the warehouse & building is seriously damaged during the explosion

3. LCL coloader warehouse now is back to work and can accept LCL cargo to check in, but efficiency is quite limit, and some truckers have to wait at least 3 hours to hand in the cargo into warehouse. As the empty container is out of supply and vessel is not calling to Xingang, LCL coloader can only store the cargo in the warehouse at this moment, can't export or load it in short time.

4. the vessel which plan to call Xingang after 25th Aug, now seems still on schedule. Subject to further notice.
5. export declaration is back to work, but the capacity only recovered less than 30%. Because Customs officials now only working manually, and brokers has to wait in line for 3 hours too.

For import:
1. Most of vessel origin from Korea lane can call in Xingang Dongjiang dock now, and import declaration is working (to CIQ and to Customs), but a little bit slowly.
2. Most of the European origin vessel has difficulty to call in Xingang, lots of vessel is still wait in out sea. 4-5 vessels started unloading with containers since yesterday, but because of heavy rain yesterday in Xingang, all port work stopped and workers evacuated immediately. Today the port work resumed but all workers must evacuate again if any other rain.
3. The unloaded container can do import declare now but very slow, there is no shipment released yet after the explosion.
4. LCL shipment has problem to split D/O or get manifest data uploaded, so impossible to proceed.
5. because some of CY / warehouse got damaged during explosion, the empty containers can't return to port now, even if cargo has been picked up and unloaded from container.
6. explosion center area is still forbid to enter, all containers in that area (such as containers in physical checking warehouse) is not yet to know safe or not, all suspending for further notice

Wish above is helpful for you to get updated with the port and airport situation.

Please see port situation delays in Bangladesh

as on 27th JULY

Average Berthing Delay: Current average berthing delay is 3.0 days based on vessel size and type.

Average Port Stay: Due to prevailing port congestion, average berth occupancy has increased to around 4.0 days.

Port Operation:

• CPA is facing shortage of CY space. As of today, empties lying inside port premise are 6304 TEUs against the capacity of 5500 TEUs.
• Port productivity has been affected further due to torrential rain along with gusty wind since last 4-5 days, discharging & loading activities from vessels are very low.
• Export volume is picking up gradually after Eid holidays. CPA export yard is chocked up with export boxes because they do not have adequate container handling equipment leading to frequent breakdown.

Off-dock/ Depot Activities: Depot and off-dock operations continue as normal and no issues reported in despatching containers to the port yard. Off-docks are requested to send export boxes directly to the vessel hook.

ICD Dhaka Operation: Activities inside Kamalapur, Dhaka continue as usual. No backlog reported for export shipments.

Actions thus far taken by Port Authority are:
- Quick shifting of empty stocks from port yards to free up space.
- Encouraging and facilitating prompt import delivery.
- In order to bring down the waiting time at the port outer anchorage, CPA is not allowing vessels to over-stay at berth after completion of import discharge, even if the vessel has balance to load export laden containers.

Re: Potential Network Rail Workers strike action

You may have read, or heard, on the news regarding Network Rail Workers via the RMT union strike action.

We would like to give you a brief statement of the facts, to date.

Network Rail workers plan to strike for 24 hours from 17:00 BST on bank holiday Monday 25th May 2015. There will also be a ban on overtime for 48 hours on the Bank Holiday and Tuesday 26th May.

It follows a vote for action from RMT union members and it will be UK-wide, which will involve signallers, maintenance staff and station workers.

In the event the strike goes ahead it is extremely likely that we will not run any services during the strike period. The reality is no services would run before the morning of Wednesday 27th May.

Our Inland terminals remain unaffected and will be open for the collection of imports containers. Export containers should not be returned for trains that would usually run during the strike period, as not to hamper the smooth running of the inland terminals.

We will keep you informed with any further updates.
