At Firmin, we’re committed to reducing our environmental impact and operating in a more sustainable way across our sites.

At our Sittingbourne depot, an underground water harvesting tank captures rainwater from the roof and supplies our vehicle wash bay, helping us conserve water. The site also features drains with interceptors to capture surface run-off and prevent pollutants from entering the environment.

Sustainability is also built into our other locations. Our Marden site has a sustainable urban drainage system, and at our head office in Linton we use energy-efficient technology, including solar panels, to help reduce energy consumption.

Small changes across our operations help us move towards a more sustainable future while continuing to deliver reliable logistics services. 🚛🌱

Recently, our amazing colleagues, Emma, Rhian and Cerys joined our charity partner, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, at Birmingham Pride 🏳️‍🌈

They spent the day celebrating community, inclusivity and pride, while helping to raise awareness of the incredible, life-saving work carried out by the charity every day.

🚛 Meet Our PF 701 Series 🚛

Introducing our PF 701 Series Urban Semi Trailer, designed to provide flexible and efficient deliveries in urban and restricted access environments.

With its compact design and single axle configuration, this trailer is ideal for navigating tighter spaces while still providing reliable capacity for palletised freight. The pillarless tautliner body also allows for easy side loading and unloading, helping our drivers deliver efficiently across a variety of sites.

🚛 Driver Spotlight – Meet Pete 🚛

This week, we caught up with Pete to chat about his time at Firmin, how his driving journey has grown, and what he’s enjoying most about being out on the road.

🔹 How long have you worked at Firmin?
I’ve been here for nearly a year now, and it’s been a great change of pace. The time has gone quickly, and I’ve enjoyed getting stuck into the job.

🔹 What made you want to become a driver?
I’ve always loved driving. After years in an office‑based job, I decided I wanted something different — something that would let me see the country instead of being indoors all day. Getting out on the road felt like the right move.

🔹 How did your Firmin career start?
I started off in a van, learning how everything works. Recently, I passed my Class 1 licence, and now I’ve started driving HGVs, which has been a big step forward for me.

🔹 Any milestones you’re proud of?
Passing my Class 1 was a huge achievement, and becoming ADR qualified was another big moment. Both have helped me grow my confidence and open more doors within the job.

🔹 What do you enjoy most about the job?
I love that no two days are the same. Every route brings something new, and I really enjoy seeing different parts of the country while working.

🔹 Are you working towards any future goals?
Yes — I want to get my Moffett licence and my forklift licence next. I want to keep building my skills and keep progressing wherever I can.

We’re proud of Pete’s progress so far and excited to see where his driving career takes him next. 👏
