Pilot Perspective: Part 1! - PA28 Archer II start up.

Ever wondered how the aeroplanes on our apron actually start? It’s a little more complicated than the average car! Luckily with the Piper PA28, a classic training aeroplane, it’s not too different. Once the checklist is complete, the key turns the ignition and violà!

Have you flown in one of Shoreham’s many based aeroplanes? If not, check out www.flybrighton.com to find out how to book a flight experience or your first lesson on the road to your pilots licence.

Our friends down at kindly gave us a great tour to show us what their setup is all about!

Located in the Southwestern Hanger, aka the ‘Perry Air hangar’, the immersive Lancaster cockpit takes you right back to 1943. With the ability to fly from a number of U.K. airfields, you can try your hand at controlling the mighty WW2 Lancaster bomber, from take-off to landing!

You can even fly the famed ‘Dambusters’ route, flying through the rolling hills of Germany to simulate the flight path for the Dams raid approaching the Möhne, Sorpe and Eder dams at 60ft above the ground.

Check out aviationsimse.com to book your experience.

Join us in wishing the iconic, untouchable Supermarine Spitfire a huge happy 90th birthday!

Developed in response to a request from the air ministry for a single seat fighter to surpass 250mph, the Spitfire, known then only as K5054, took flight on 5th March 1936. Through alterations and with over 24 different marks, the Spitfire would serve in every theatre of the Second World War and reach speeds of up to 620mph. The Spit continues to stun at airshows and experience flights.

With over 20,000 built between 1938-1948, and with famed victories during the Battle of Britain, all the way until wars-end, the Spitfire is regarded as one of the greatest single engine piston aeroplanes ever produced.
