Another couple of weeks slip by and the building is looking really good. The floor is largely down - just some edging and the fireplace to be sorted. Internal timber framing is taking shape and the window surrounds need a bit more work. Painting has started in a couple of rooms. Oh my!

With walls and ceiling getting all the attention it was clear that the floor was being left out. Not any more! Tiles are going down everywhere and, although the spacers spoil the effect a little, the impact is enormous.

Please don't forget to keep the fundraiser rolling along. Every small donation takes us a step towards completion.

We were really pleased to welcome Tim Hedley-Jones and Anna Jips from the Railway Heritage Trust. The RHT is one of the funders for this phase of the work and have shown great support and patience while the costs of, and other funders for, this phase have been determined.

Also in the picture are the nameboards for our contractors - Fordson for the stonework fabric of the building, and Princebuild for the internal work now ongoing. They've both been great partners and we're grateful for their efforts in creating this new gateway to Nene Valley Railway and Railworld Wildlife Haven.

Plastering is well advanced now and, as it dries out, the interior becomes more like our aspirations.

Away from the building, we've been discussing with Nene Valley and Railworld how the building can best be operated. Although things aren't completely tied down yet, there's the outline of a plan and further discussions are planned for later this month. It's too early to say exactly when we'll be able to start orperations but the onset of a summer season, with good weather, is looming large!

Plasterboarding is practically complete, just a few 'fiddly' sections around the windows and doors to be sorted out. Plaster bags are being delivered and Plastering has just started at the apex of the high ceiling in the main hall. It can't be seen above the temporary flooring. A minor panic was caused when it was discovered that the originally specified flooring tiles were in short supply and might not be available for a couple of months. Some quick work by Princebuild's project manager Amanda Green has found acceptable alternatives - the sample can be seen mounted on board in one of the pictures. We're excited to have one our funders, the Railway Heritage Trust, visiting this week and we hope they'll appreciate the progress since their last visit - the roof was just going on then!

A new batch of pictures showing the plasterboard being fixed to walls. The change from battleship grey to the off-white creates a very different effect and gives a clue to the finished feel. There's still much to do and some of it is details work around the windows and doors. Particularly impressive are the trusses in the ceiling of the main hall. First fit wiring is complete.

We now have plans (drawings) for the landscaping around the the building and will shortly be looking for tenders to implement them. Of course, that'll be another round of funding and we'll be applying for grant support to underwrite the costs. As ever, we're always ready to accept donations to support the upcoming phase. Please see the support pages on the website at https://woodstonewharf.org.uk/support/, or get in touch directly [email protected]. Thank you.

Great progress inside the building, and signs of yet more to come. In the main hall, electrical wiring snakes across the apex, supplying power to both ends of the building. It's now hidden as the scaffolding has been set up to allow the plasterboard sheets to be fixed to the ceiling. Bags of plaster have been delivered and will soon be applied to walls and ceiling. All funded by the Railway Heritage Trust and the Augean Community Fund, to whom we're very grateful.

More elements of progress on the inside. Each individual part doesn't look very impressive but soon it'll add up to something special.
The first picture shows the pipework going into the toilet area, in the second shot, the scaffolding is making a start at its climb towards the ceiling in the main hall - that's nearly 6m up! The third and fourth pictures show the electrical cables starting to snake around the building. Does anyone know why some are grey and some red?
