43 Years Behind the Wheel
This year, Steven Stevens is celebrating an incredible 35 years with Stagecoach and nearly 43 years in the bus industry!
Buses really are in the family. Steven’s grandfather was a bus driver for 39 years, and Steven says, “It’s in the blood.”
Over the years, Steven has seen huge changes to the industry, from fares and ticketing to more frequent services and modern vehicles. But in some ways, nothing has really changed.
Steven still drives some of the same routes he remembers from earlier in his career, including the 700s and services into Selsey.
As Steven puts it, “Nothing changes really, does it? We’re still taking some of the same customers around.”
He’s also spent the past 15 years helping with the buildup at Goodwood’s Festival of Speed, making him a familiar face at one of the region’s biggest events.
And after nearly 43 years behind the wheel, Steven’s attitude remains the same:
“You never know what’s round the corner.”
