The Generate Network summer newsletter is now live! ⬇️

There is a confirmed July evening event for us to get together, a July Dance in a Day workshop, updates from the older adult dance festivals happening this summer as well news from our friends and partners.

What a fabulous day at HOST 2026!

DanceEast and EncoreEast curated such a wonderful experience for everyone involved!

Our highlights were the Gila Practice workshop with Galit Liss and of course seeing our screendance 'An I Away From Science' showcased amongst so many amazing films from around the world!

We also loved the double performance showcase and seeing our friends Sky Mirror Dance performing their latest piece, the East Midlands were out in force in the East of Engalnd!

We're excited to announce that our screendance 'An I Away From Science' is one of only 5 films chosen to be showcased at Yorkshire Dance Ageless Festival in Leeds on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th July 🥳

The Generate Creatives will be there for both days, with our screening taking place on the Saturday morning.

We've had the most incredible 2 days shooting The Hollows 💃📸

A huge thank you to National Justice Museum for the hire of the glorious City of Caves, the Abderrahim Crickmay Charitable Settlement for funding the project, David Wilson Clarke for the unbelievable skill needed to shoot in this location!

And above all the 10 dancers of the Generate Creatives who give all they are to these wonderful projects with trust and creativity ✨️

The exhibition will be held at ILKON during the summer as part of 'An Evening with Generate'

Call out for older professional contemporary dancers!

Would you describe yourself as an older professional contemporary dancer?
If so, you are most welcome to come along and join us at one, some or all of the classes listed below.

These classes are aimed at dancers who have worked professionally as performer, teacher, and/or choreographer – dancers who have technical training/skills in contemporary dance. You may still be working in that capacity or your professional life may be a distant memory but you would love to get back into the studio and rediscover your plié!

Class will follow the familiar pattern of warm up exercises, technique (Graham/Cunningham) and travelling phrases. Then we will move on to learning and developing a longer phrase in the style of Alston.

This is the beginning of a much bigger project designed to create opportunities for older professional dancers to be able to train, create and perform new works - to have the opportunity to persuade our older bodies to sustain or rediscover the physical, technical and artistic challenges of dance that continue to bring us joy!

Friday 20th March - Albany Theatre Coventry in the Courtyard Studio

Wednesday 1st April - The Dance Hub Studio Birmingham

Wednesday 8th April - The Dance Hub Studio Birmingham

Friday 17th April - Albany Theatre Coventry in the Courtyard Studio

Friday 8th May - Albany Theatre Coventry in the Courtyard Studio.

All classes take place 6:00 - 7:30pm.
