Packing done...final evening ahead.
Today's weather isn't as good as we have had, but the sea is still calm.

We enjoyed New Amen Corner again last night. This time they were in the Britannia Lounge so we could dance.

Tonight we have a British buffet in The Grill so that eases us back into the UK.

In summary, an excellent cruise with 8 lovely ports and extended stays in Stockholm and Tallinn. The Baltic is such a fascinating region, and the weather has been better than we dared to dream.

Thank you Captain and Crew of Spirit of Discovery. I'll be back soon!

Final port of call for Spirit of Discovery was Skagen, at the tip of Denmark. An area of sand dunes and seascape, with great light that attracted painters in the late 19th C.

I visited Michael and Anna Ancher's house. And the hotel that was key to their story. We had an ice cream in the sunshine. Another beautiful day.

This afternoon an unexpected bonus - a no-show on a tour by a guest meant there was a space for me. Took us to the tip of Denmark, where the North and Baltic seas meet. Fabulous place on a sunny day.

Spirit of Discovery is in Copenhagen today. We did the included Canal Cruise. Before setting out on excursions, we assemble in the Playhouse Theatre. Whilst waiting, they play a rerun of one of my talks. It's strange to sit there and watch yourself on a big screen!

The cruise was lovely as the sun was out so the buildings were sparkling with light. Always amazing to see how many new buildings have been constructed since our last visit.

The bridges on the canals are very low, so the guide was telling people to sit down as we approached each one. There was a lady at the back who didn't respond so I asked her to please sit down. She looked at me and said "I'm not on a school trip so I can stand if I wish"
You can't help some people!!

On our return, we had a snack and Mark, one of our bar waiters, presented me with a new set of patio furniture (see photo!!)

Maiden call to Ystad for Spirit of Discovery. A small town at the south tip of Sweden...full of half-timbered properties and spring flowers in full bloom.

A short shuttle ride from the large port area to the Art Museum which also houses Tourist Information. Then a 5 minute walk to the main square where a vintage fire engine was on display.

They chose not to open the church, which was a pity. Greyfriars Abbey had extended their opening hours so that was good. So pretty around it with a duck pond!

Definitely recommend this for future itineraries.

What a beautiful day in Visby for Spirit of Discovery.

I walked in, around and back, 5 miles in all. Visby is made for wandering if you have good knees 😁

Liars' Club went well last night. We had a good crowd and they seemed to enjoy it. Prior to that a Viking Buffet in the Grill.

We gained an hours' sleep last night as we moved from Estonia time to Swedish.

Sunday on Spirit of Discovery....but let's start with Saturday evening.

We left Helsinki at 5pm and by 8pm we were berthing in Tallinn. This meant a lovely view from the Grill whilst we had dinner. It was busy up there for that reason.

Restaurant Manager Edgar gave me a paper rose!

This morning we headed into Tallinn. Yesterday many of you commented that this is your favourite capital in the Baltic, and it's easy to see why.

Such a charming and interesting old town. And a little quieter on a Sunday.

Now back on board where I am preparing for tonight ~ doing the Liars' Club again 😀 👍
Do they keep asking me because I'm good at lying or bad?

Helsinki today, my favourite Baltic city.

Had a good stroll around. There was lots going on - a rally of classical cars by the pier, and a charity fun run in town.

Had a coffee and people watched for a while. They all look so fit and healthy here. The quality of life seems great, the streets are clean and free of litter.

Now back on board and doing my laundry - back to earth with a bump on Spirit of Discovery.

For lunch...duck croquettes, very yummy!

Spirit of Discovery is now sailing back out through the Stockholm Archipelago. What a beautiful scenic sail...and not the best time to do my final talk 😂😂.

We did the Sights of Stockholm tour this morning. Took us to parts of the city we hadn't seen before.

Captain Luko has been able to secure an overnight berth in Tallinn. So we will be in Helsinki until 5pm tomorrow and then make the short crossing to Tallinn to stay overnight Saturday and all day Sunday.

Formal night tonight.
