We have a full day today with a stop at Lexington Battle Green, where the opening shots of the American Revolution were fired in April 1775.
Then a visit to Minute Man National Historical Park, which is a historic park in Lexington, Lincoln, and Concord, Massachusetts, commemorating the opening battles of the American Revolution on April 19, 1775. The shot heard ’round the world”!
The peaceful landscape - trees, fields, and the river—is very different from the scene these soldiers witnessed in 1775.
The Minute Man statue, created by sculptor Daniel Chester French and dedicated in 1875, represents the local citizen-soldiers who answered the call to defend their communities.
North Bridge a beautiful historic location. It represents the moment when a political dispute became an armed struggle—and when ordinary people found themselves at the beginning of a revolution.
Lexington Women’s Liberty Monument, called “Something Is Being Done!”, it is directly across from Lexington Battle Green. It was unveiled in 2024 and recognizes more than 20 women and girls connected with Lexington’s history, from the Revolutionary period through to the modern era.
