FROM THE CWC VAULT

A few RN81s have just been found in the vault.

New, but shop displayed, with a very minor mark from handling — hardly visible to the eye.

A rare chance to own an RN81.
Available now, while they last.

THE BLACK 80 🖤 Live tomorrow, signup and watch out for our newsletter www.cwcwatch.com

A new look for a very important chapter in CWC history.

In 1980, CWC’s Royal Navy Diver followed the famous military Submariner era, becoming the next generation of British military dive watch issued for service.

The lineage is real.
The provenance second to none.
And the design has stood the test of time.

Now we’ve taken that 1980 design and given it a black PVD case — a darker, more contemporary expression of one of CWC’s most important watches.

Same DNA. Different attitude.

2 options available with a Top Grade Sellita SW200-1, or with one of the Top Grade ETA 2824-2 movements we have secured for a very special run.

ETA 2824-2 — limited to 50 pieces.

A watch with huge history behind it.

Official CWC Watches X The Ministry of Defence Mutineer

On 15 January 2019, al-Shabaab terrorists struck the DusitD2 hotel and office complex in Nairobi, Kenya. A su***de bomber detonated in a restaurant, and four gunmen followed with grenades and automatic weapons. The attack killed 21–22 people and lasted roughly 19 hours.

Craighead was in the country training Kenyan special forces. After finishing his own morning training, he learned of the assault, armed himself, and drove straight to the scene without waiting for orders. Finding little organized resistance, he repeatedly entered the complex alone under fire. He cleared rooms and floors of the office and parking buildings, killed at least two of the attackers, escorted large groups of civilians to safety, and carried wounded people out while returning into the danger zone. Footage later showed him moving calmly and methodically through the complex.

His actions helped break the momentum of the attack and enabled the eventual securing of the site. He was awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross (Britain’s second-highest award for gallantry) and became widely known as “Obi-Wan Nairobi” for the almost Jedi-like competence and resolve he displayed.

Of the importance of a tool watch Craighead has said “As a young soldier in the Parachute Regiment, I relied on a CWC watch but never dreamed I would one day have the opportunity to design my own. That fateful day in January 2019 was yet another reminder to always favor an AUTOMATIC watch over a smartwatch that needs charging.” and we couldn’t agree more.

The three L’s Lovin, laughing and LIVIN!
Great to see back with a beauty the ‘97
————————————
Not the rarest of the CWC quartz divers, but at 300 units issued this 1997 CWC RN diver is still a fairly rare piece. Rarer, for example, than the 1995 issue which ran to around 500 units. This one is in lovely original condition, currently wearing a vintage 20mm Admiralty Grey Phoenix NATO, and will be supplied with a fully documented service carried out in our own workshop. I know someone was asking me for a 97 diver but I didn’t make a note! Sorry! Get in touch!
