The Padfield Road corner: Part 2

Part 1 covered the history of Padfield Road (outlined in green above) in general. This post will look at the triangular site (outlined in red above) that sits on the corner specifically. This small site, having quietly spent centuries as a piece of pastoral or farmed ground, entered a period of quite intense turmoil in the 1860s. In that sense it's a kind of microcosm of Loughborough Junction in general. Serious development came first with the construction of Wanless Road, and the houses along its north side, two or three of which would have been at least partially within the site....
